We're just gonna answer some questions like this...
Anon asked: Is it true that if you were born in the year of ‘96 or later, you can’t get your license until you are 18? Nope. dkwok asked: Why do diesel engines produce more torque than gas/petrol engines? The cylinder pressures when the fuel fires are higher, up to twice the pressure in a petrol engine, meaning the piston is pushed down with more force and turns the crank with more...

Taking showers can make you sick.
Sort of. Getting a face full of shower water can lead to lung disease. Researchers from the University of Colorado found that 30 percent of shower heads contain extremely high levels of Mycobacterium avium, which is linked to pulmonary infections. Since tiny droplets of water from a shower often suspend themselves in the air, it makes it easy for the bacteria to be inhaled into the lungs.

Napoleon Bonaparte was not actually short.
After his death in 1821, the French emperor’s height was recorded as 5 feet 2 inches in French feet. This corresponds to 5 feet 6.5 inches in modern international feet, or 1.686 metres.  (source)

Monkeys seem to enjoy the sounds of hard rock.
Researchers played a group of cotton-top tamarin monkeys a variety of musical types, such as jazz and classical, and found that they only reacted when they heard the loud, fast-paced sounds of a band like Metallica. Instead of banging their heads, however, the heavy metal made the simians appear calm and content.

Abraham Lincoln Was Assassinated During Passover.
According to the American Jewish Historical Society, many Jews were in synagogue for the holiday when news of Lincoln’s assassination broke. Altars in temples “were quickly draped in black and, instead of Passover melodies, the congregations chanted Yom Kippur hymns. Rabbis set aside their sermons and wept openly at their pulpits, as did their congregants.” Sadly, a time that was...

While Coke is generally a kosher product, the dietary laws tighten during the Passover holiday making high-fructose corn syrup a no-no for observant Jews (it really should be a no-no for everybody all the time, but that’s neither here nor there). In response, Coca-Cola pumps out a batch of limited edition Coke that uses (gasp) real sugar instead of the kitniyot corn. Look for bottles with...

The English monk and historian Bede (d. 735) recorded that the Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre had a festival lasting several days, and that this name was adopted in England for the Christian holiday of Easter, which falls on the Sunday after the full moon following the spring equinox. Eostre has since evolved into “Easter” in English and “Ostern” in German. The word...

Ostara facts!
An anonymous tip told us about the pagan holiday, Ostara. Ostara is a Neopagan festival celebrated on the spring equinox, which is between March 19 and March 22 in the Northern Hemisphere. On the spring and fall equinoxes, day and night are of equal lengths. Ostara celebrates the coming of spring, new growth and fertility.

They considered it a symbol of the moon as the moon determines the date of Easter.  The Easter Bunny’s visit is based upon a German Legend.  The legend goes that a poor woman decorated eggs for her children to find during a famine. At the moment they found them, they looked up to see a big bunny hopping away.  (source)

The custom of exchanging eggs began long before Easter was celebrated.  It was a custom of the Egyptians and the Persians. They exchanged eggs decorated in Spring colors. They believed Earth hatched from an egg which contributed to this custom.  Early Christians used red colored eggs to symbolize the Resurrection.  In England they began writing messages and dates on their eggs and exchanging them ...

Anonymous asked: Prostitution in Rhode Island was outlawed in 2009. On November 3, governor Donald Carcieri signed into law a bill which makes the buying and selling of sexual services a crime.[1]

Prostitution was legal in Rhode Island between 1980 and 2009 because there was no specific statute to define the act and outlaw it, although associated activities were illegal, such as street solicitation,...
