Republicans are 26 percent less likely to report being in poor health than Democrats.

Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health came to this conclusion after analyzing data from the 1972 to 2006 General Social Surveys, while controlling for sex, age, income, education, race, religiosity and marital status. One of the reasons for this discrepancy could be that Democrats (like our current President) are 15 percent more likely to smoke.

Studies in other industrialized nations have also suggested those with conservative political philosophies are more healthy.
