petelol-deactivated20110805: which religion is the fastest growing in the world?

It’s near impossible to determine the “fastest growing” religion in the world (many countries have varying statistics), but according to the American Religious Identification Study, the fastest growing religion in terms of absolute numbers from 1990-2001 was no religion at all. In 1990, 14.3 million Americans said they were “non-religious,” but in 2001 that number inflated to 29.4 million (5.7% increase).

That said, keep in mind that the fastest growing religion has nothing to do with “truth” of that religion. Argumentum ad populum fallacy: “If many believe so, it is so.” Untrue.
